Southern Connection Rescue is a volunteer run foster based dog rescue who is in partnership with Northern Reach Rescue Network. Our mandate is to find homes for the northern dogs within the Greater Toronto Area. All of our rescues come from Northern Reach who has partnered with over 15 remote fly in communities to not only rescue sick, homeless, stray dogs, but also bring in dogs surrendered by community members that simply want a better life for their furry friend.
Southern Connection works closely with the foster parents within our rescue to ensure they are well supported in caring for the rescues until adoption. All of our dogs are immediately vetted when they come to the South to ensure they are healthy. No dog or puppy is put up for adoption until they have had a wellness check. Everything we do requires supplies such as leashes and collars, food and toys and beds and money to pay the unending veterinarian costs to have the dogs vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and any other vetting required to ensure they are adopted in very healthy conditions. We also carry very high transport costs to get the dogs from the North to us in the South. The rescue relies on donations for all of the expenses and goods.
Southern Connection was established to promote awareness of the northern dogs and to promote visibility of our partner rescue Northern Reach Rescue Network within the GTA. We send food to the north monthly to help feed the dogs on the communities and also help our partner rescue monetarily to help them with vetting costs when the dogs come in sick and require immediate veterinary care.
We are a small group of dedicated animal lovers who thrive to make a difference in the world, one dog at a time. We are 100% foster based and volunteer run. We have a very thorough adoption process to ensure we find the best family for our dogs.
