At Southern Connection all of our rescues are placed in a foster homes when they come into our care as opposed to a kennel or shelter. We depend on fosters to be able to continue the work that we do.
Fostering is a 2-3 week commitment at a minimum and comes at no expense to the foster. We ask that fosters be able to pick their dog or puppies up on transport day (this may be at any hour of the day). We also ask that you are able to take you foster to a vet appointment that is coordinated in conjunction with the foster at the most convenient vet location to the foster home. If the foster can not take the rescue to the vet we try our hardest to get a volunteer to help.
We need fosters for 2 puppies at a time, 1 adult dog or pregnant dogs/ moms with babies. Some of these are longer time commitments then 2-3 weeks. If you are interested in fostering please consider being available 2-3 times in a 6 month span.
Our dogs come from remote northern communities and need mainly 3 things from their fosters, love, shelter and care. We have a team who is always reachable if you have questions, concerns or need assistance with your foster.
Our ideal foster home has children over the age of 5, animals up to date on vaccinations, preventatives and spayed/neutered and are home often enough that the dogs/puppies are not alone for more than 4 hours at a time.
If you are interested in fostering and being apart of a dogs story on its way to a forever home, please apply today.
If you'd like to become a foster with Southern Connection, please fill out this application:
